PowerPoint Teaching Resources for Lecturers

The revised version of AS1720.1 was released in July 2010. These resources have been updated to refer to AS1720.1 (2010). They are not suitable for use with the 1997 version of the Standard.

This resource is an introduction to the principles of timber engineering, and checking the capacity of timber members and connections. The resource is divided into discrete topics, forming 15 modules. The PowerPoint slides in each module are designed for lecturers to use as a foundation for their lectures. They can select particular slides from each of the modules and present them in a way that suits their style of lecturing and fits with the content and time constraints of their course. The presentations can be used ‘as is’, but lecturers are free to choose to modify or amalgamate modules as required to suit their needs.

Actions

The Actions module summarizes the design actions (loads) that are used to calculate the axial forces, bending moments and deformations that are used to model the behaviour of timber members. It includes permanent actions, imposed actions and wind actions.
